Julio Valdez

Julio Valdez - The New Director of Pitching

While it certainly saddens us to see Dave leave us, we are excited to announce Julio Valdez as the new Director of Pitching at Baseball Rebellion! Julio brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Baseball Rebellion. In college, Julio pitched for Alabama State University and the Wilson Tobs (located in NC) in the Coastal Plains League. Following college, Julio coached the nationally ranked Triton Ray travel team in which 16 of the players went on to play baseball at the next level. Julio then returned to Alabama State to become an assistant coach, where he coached the pitchers. Following a successful season at ASU, Julio joined the staff at the famed Texas Pitching Institute (TPI) in El Paso, Texas. It was at TPI where Julio made a name for himself by leading a pitching program that produced dozens & dozens of college commitments and MLB draft picks.

We are thrilled to have Julio on our staff! Please continuing scrolling to read more about Julio and his past accomplishments.

Julio - Youth Pitcher

Texas Pitching Institute

Director of Pitching (August '17-April '19)

While at Texas Pitching Institute (TPI) Julio worked with pitchers ranging from High School freshman to MLB. He created individualized programming based on readings and data received through mobility screenings, strength assessments, and throwing assessments done with Rapsodo. Every program was built for a certain goal(s) the player and Julio had before the training began.  On a daily basis, Julio used cutting edge technologies such as (Rapsodo, Motus, high-speed cameras) to not only enhance our development but to get a clear indication of where we are at and any adjustments or corrections that need to be made to each individual.

Alabama State University

Assistant Coach (2017 Season)

Julio returned to his alma mater Alabama State University for the 2017 season to coach the pitchers and infielders. The ASU Hornets finished with a school-best 31 win season in 2017. Under Julio's guidance, ASU was 1st in team fielding percentage of .962% and 2nd in team ERA in the conference. Julio also helped coach 7 All-Conference players including the conference's Pitcher of the Year, Reliever of the Year, and Freshman of the Year!

Julio Valdez

Nationally Ranked Travel Ball

In the summer of 2016, Julio was fortunate enough to coach the Triton Rays "Scout" Team, a nationally ranked travel ball team that reached as high as #3 nationally according to Perfect Game. Julio worked with the pitchers and the infield during his summer with the Rays. 16 of the players under his tutelage went on to play college baseball, including 10 D1 athletes, 1 D2, and 5 JUCO. One player (Myles McKisic) was even draft in the MLB Draft!

We're extremely fortunate to be adding a member to our staff with extensive high-level travel ball experience. This will hopefully translate to further development of our middle & high school level athletes who aspire to play at the next level!
